Description

Getting married at Barnutopia is an experience like no other. Set in a stunning rural location with breath-taking views in every direction, the glamping village, licensed wedding barns, outdoor space and amenities are perfect for unconventional weddings and receptions. Barnutopia offers exclusive hire for 2 nights Friday to Sunday or any two nights midweek. Near the village of Llansilin, Powys, Barnutopia is literally on the border between England and Wales. This is just one of the quirks that makes the venue special. The wedding barns, glamping accommodation, campsite and facilities are beautiful and practical. This is a fabulous country venue with all the conveniences you need for the perfect rustic wedding. The large licensed wedding barn can seat up to 120 guests. The Dutch barn, next door to the cookhouse and with access to the event barn, is an excellent indoor/outdoor space where you can have a drinks reception if the weather is poor. Barnutopia provides fire pits, logs and garden seating or hay bales. Campfires are encouraged, and the owners love to see guests enjoying an evening chatting in the sunset. Tie the knot outside against the backdrop of the Shropshire and Powys hills. Guests can enjoy our horses, donkeys, pigs, dogs and cats. If you prefer a church ceremony, St. Silin's church is just over half a mile away along a leafy country lane. Barnutopia opened as a glamping site in 2015 and began hosting events and party weekends in 2016. They applied for and received their licence for wedding ceremonies in 2017 and hosted their first marriage in August that year.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?

Ooh, that's a hard one. Every event, party and wedding is different. We love seeing how the barn is transformed for each one. Probably the highlight so far is the first wedding that was filmed for an an ITV series following British businesses through their first year. Barnutopia is one of the success stories.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Book the venue and registrar and don't worry about the rest. It's a bit like going on holiday, as long as you have the essentials (a place to sleep and clean underwear) everything else will sort itself out. At our very first wedding the evening caterers (booked by the bride, phew, not us) failed to turn up. We ran into town and bought a load of burgers, chicken fillets and pizzas and fed 65+ hungry guests within an hour or so. It turned into a fabulous evening.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

Another hard one. The weddings and events we have at Barnutopia are almost always DIY and full of personal touches. The first reception had hundreds of pom poms and decorations made by the whole family, a birthday party had an illuminated sign made from cardboard and fairly lights, a wedding party had a bounce house and the bride managed to bounce herself out of it (no damage done!) It's lovely to see what folks thing of.

Describe your venue in 5 adjectives.

Unique, beautiful, friendly, well-equipped, memorable.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?

With views in every direction you can choose almost any spot. However, looking out from the yurt field takes some beating.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?

Baroness Karren Brady attended the very first wedding in August 2017.

What’s your favourite canapé?

I'm not sure I have a favourite canape. I can say, though, that canapes are probably my favourite kind of food. I love the variety and being able to choose from lots of different savoury treats.

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

Red wine and popcorn. Not very sophisticated, I know. But it is midnight, after all.

What is your venue's most unique feature?

Depends on who you're talking to. According to our guests it could be the yurts, the long barn, the views or the piggies.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

Oh golly. We are passionate about every part of our business and work hard to make it a welcoming, comfortable and practical venue. We are very proud that we have achieved so much in a relatively short period (under 3 years) and have been rewarded by over one hundred and sixty 5-star guest reviews.
