We REALLY love weddings and we think the gathering of your nearest and dearest for a (minimum) 2 day stay is the best way to celebrate. Dewsall is a lovely, big, stylish, well appointed house which becomes your home for the period of your stay and so often our guests say that they truly felt that it was THEIR home from which they were hosting.
You and your house guests arrive the day before and enjoy rehearsals, a little final styling and a delicious dinner to start the celebrations. There is time to spend to really immerse in this transitional, important and beautiful stage of your lives as a couple, being entirely supported by your friends and family and the Dewsall team. No one wants to be worrying and stressing over this time, distracting you from what is important and we work hard to make sure that your plans and dreams are carried out seamlessly so that you have space for the romance, laughter and FUN!
Our couples are allocated their own planning team which is lead by their event manager: someone who guides you through all things Dewsall and works with you to create your wedding. What is key, is that your wedding represents you as a couple. We do appreciate that weddings follow a similar format but that is no reason for weddings to be too similar. We adore 'outside of the box' ideas and because Dewsall has so many different areas which can all be dressed to be used for different aspects, I can truly say that no one wedding is ever similar to one which has gone before and this makes us, and our couples very happy.
Food glorious food really is GLORIOUS at Dewsall! I don't want to tempt fate (!) but I can honestly say that we consistently get great feedback from our couples and their guests about the food they have eaten which with us. We source carefully, ethically, locally and are forever pinging ideas around the team for ways to keep abreast of new food trends and techniques. Look out for honey on our menus which comes direct from the Dewsall bee hives!

Demonstrating the perfect mix of professionalism and hospitality… While other venues we had visited felt corporate and bland, Dewsall still sparkled with the feel that can only be found in family homes. Please never change! One of the reasons Dewsall spoke to me is the quirky nature of the fixtures, fittings and art which gave a history and unique energy to the house… Similarly, while planning your team had such an open mind when it came to planning the day… You always showed enthusiasm and helped us achieve our vision. You never imposed ‘the done thing’ on us. Subsequently, the feedback on the day was that the wedding was “so us”. I haven’t come back down from the high of the day. However, our wedding weekend went far beyond our expectations. The team at Dewsall were exceptional, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived and giving us the freedom to tailor our wedding exactly how we wanted to, with all of our guests commenting on how personal and unique the celebrations were. We were fortunate enough to have two celebrations across the weekend to celebrate both of our family backgrounds, each were completely different but totally magical. We have so many happy memories, from singing under the canopy at our reception, enjoying the unbelievably delicious food in the barn (especially the salted caramel chocolate tart...), roasting marshmallows around the fire pits, our colourful Hindu ceremony by the lake with both our families meeting each other drumming and singing; and SO much dancing and laughing across the two days. We wish we could do it all again!As soon as we visited Dewsall we knew it was the wedding venue for us- the house and grounds are truly beautiful! We had booked the wedding over two years previous to this and on the first viewing we were completely blown away so much so that it was the first and the last wedding venue that we looked at it. The features that really appealed to us included the availability of hiring the house for the whole weekend so that we could enjoy quality time with our family and friends prior and following our special day. Dewsall house felt very much like a home for the whole weekend, with homemade cookies on arrival, a homely cooked meal in the conservatory the night before the wedding which was enjoyed with great wine and an incredible dessert. We allocated each guest their own room designed around their needs and each guest was astonished in how each bedroom was designed so uniquely and beautifully making their stay even more special and memorable. Waking up at Dewsall on the day of my wedding was perfect, I was able to remain in my room whilst getting ready with my bridesmaids, hair and makeup artists without the risk of being seen by other guests. The room offered some great opportunities for pictures especially for the big wedding dress reveal to my father. Another feature that drew us to Dewsall court was the fact that everything was on the same grounds, this completely eliminated the stress and financial burden of arranging transport from venue to church. The walk with my dad was one of the most memorable walks whereby we reflected on the 2 years of planning, memorable father and daughter moments and offered a truly special moment that we will treasure forever. The grounds are completely breathtaking and offered some beautiful photo opportunities for us and our guests. All our guests were completely blown away by Dewsall court and all its features, I think it will be talked about for a very long time yet. The wedding breakfast took place inside Dewsall barn which was arranged so perfectly. The meal was delicious and the services from staff was incredible, with all the meals coming out in a timely fashion and like clockwork. Thom our catering manager was to hand every step of our way to answer any of our questions and also to check that we were happy with everything throughout the day. Throughout the planning of the wedding Laura was our knight in shining armour, from our very first meeting she put us at ease with any task never too big or difficult for her to manage. Laura offered some excellent ideas and made our whole experience truly special. We will honestly miss Laura and our visit to Dewsall, we are sad that this chapter is now over. Overall, Paul and I had the most perfect day and would highly recommend any couple planning a wedding to have their wedding at Dewsall Court. Every time we went there, we didn't want to leave as it really did feel like a home away from home. Laura, our wedding co-ordinator was a great help leading up to the wedding and on the day, making us feel totally at ease. The day itself was brilliant and being there with all our closest family and friends was just incredible. The day was filled with lots of fun, singing and dancing - just what we wanted from our wedding. We want to thank the team for letting us all really let our hair down...even dancing on the chairs before our main courses had arrived. It really was a great party and one we will always remember! We've had such lovely compliments about the day and the venue from friends and family, it really has gone down as a day to remember. Its rustic magic charmed us from day one and we didn’t want to have our big day anywhere else. From the food we chose, the grounds, the rooms… it couldn’t have been more perfect. Dewsall is very homely, unfussy, understated and simplistic in its way, which was just what we were looking for in a venue. The place speaks for itself and we instantly fell in love. It's so us. The in-house staff that looked after us before, during, and after the day itself were very accommodating, unobtrusive and made us feel at home. We really did feel like it was our house for the weekend, but felt safe in the knowledge they were on hand if needed. (A special thankyou to Meg and her team for being so lovely.) Our friends and family haven’t been able to stop talking about it all, and what a hidden gem Dewsall is; a gorgeous secret retreat in the depths of the beautiful Herefordshire countryside, which made our special day truly unforgettable. We were sad to leave and it was all over far too soon, but a piece of our hearts will always be there. We’re very grateful to Hannah and Molly who guided us throughout the process and the weekend itself. Thank you for helping us feel at ease and for all your hard work/running about! The day/weekend wouldn’t have run so smoothly without your input, organisation and communication. Dewsall was an amazing backdrop to our event, beautiful gardens and house, perfect rooms, and amazing staff who were incredibly helpful but also very low key - it actually felt like we were living in the house! There was no sense of 'being in a hotel' and that made everything feel really special. The actual wedding day was brilliant with great help from Hannah and team who were gently on hand to remind us where to go and when but again without being intrusive. What I was really impressed with is that all the staff made us feel like they were completely devoted to our wedding and our individual needs, and that they were happy and loved what they were doing. There was no sense that this is something they do on repeat, and to achieve that is a huge feat. Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
Gosh this is so hard! We have truly incredible weddings here. Some are standout because of their styling, others because their ceremonies are crossing cultures, or are in unusual locations around the garden. We have had birds of prey at a drinks reception, tug of war after dinner and a flash mob! This year the daughter of a well known musician married with us and he sang with his family at the ceremony - that was pretty exciting for us. But to be truthful, there is no BEST wedding. They all have something special and something that shines out for us.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
We think planning for your meetings with your venue is really helpful as it means you really make the most of the time on site and with your event manager - ask your venue to send you a little agenda about what you might need to be thinking about so that you come to each of your meetings with an idea of how you want your wedding to look and feel.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
Because we have many weddings for couples from different counties, countries, and cultural backgrounds, we always love it when a couple incorporates a tradition personal to them.

Down-to-earth, romantic, historic, rural and with a modern-twist!
Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
Toooooo many to say!!!! Haha! Photographers get pretty excited at Dewsall because there are so many gorgeous spots!
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
We have had really rather a lot but none that we would be so crass as to mention in 'print' so to speak! Ask if you come for a viewing!
What’s your favourite canapé?
Canapes are one of my most favourite things and we have a varied and extensive menu full of deliciousness! Some are hearty and some a very pretty...ALL are very, very tasty! We also serve them on some really beautiful majolica plates and dishes which have been sourced from different antiques stores - like much of our tableware.
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Funnily enough we offer our late night revellers the chance to order midnight feast hampers here at Dewsall - all the treats are handmade in our kitchens - I always pine for the cheese straws!
What is your venue's most unique feature?
I would say the after party den. All the revelry happens in the Wainhouse barn which is our purposely renovated ancient barn which is really modern and stylish in its presentation and a great blank canvas. However, once the majority of guests have left, the after party den in the cellar opens up for you and 25 of your nearest and dearest to party the night away. This little hideaway has its own bar, dancefloor, mini lighting rig and sound system and is open till late late late!
What part of your business are you most proud of?
My team. I adore them - we are a proper family and I know that is a cliche! They work SO hard, they really care and they are a lot of fun. Not a day goes by when we don't have a really good, 'deep from the belly' laugh together. They never wallow in a problem but seek solutions, working as a team to always deliver to the highest possible standard.
There is a lot I'm proud of: the food, the standard of presentation, the constant evolving and seeking ways to be as forward thinking as possible, but the team is the key!
