Whether you would like a religious, humanist or civil ceremony, there are a number of beautifully romantic locations at Dundas Castle where you can exchange your vows. The Great Hall within the medieval Auld Keep is the most popular location for ceremonies; the Hall with its vaulted ceiling and ancient stonework add to the atmosphere of romance. The elegant Croquet Room provides an altogether different ambience for a wedding ceremony; the impressive open fire, crystal chandelier and outlook across the sweeping lawns of the Estate make this room popular for a more intimate wedding. Outdoor wedding ceremonies are becoming increasingly popular, and with a choice of settings, there is no reason why you can’t say ‘I do’ in a beautifully serene garden location on the Dundas Estate, or in the charming Courtyard. Once the formality of the ceremony is over and the celebrations commence, whether you want an intimate candlelit feast for close family and friends in Stag Chamber, a more formal wedding breakfast in the elegant Croquet room or a larger dining celebration with dancing into the night for up to 200 people in the Pavilion, Dundas provides options to suit all. The front of the Castle is the perfect backdrop for a grand finale, with a marching Scottish pipe band and fireworks lighting up the night sky. Our expert team will guide you through the planning of your wedding, and make recommendations based on their experience, as to which suppliers would work best with you to make your dream wedding a reality. During your wedding, our skilled operations team will be discretely by your side throughout the day to ensure that each and every moment is enjoyable, seamless and to plan. Dundas castle was the perfect setting for our winter wedding. The day itself was magical and the Dundas team took care of everything from the time we arrived until the day we left. Everything about our wedding was perfect! We could not have asked for a more wonderful venue and team. They exceeded every expectation and helped us to create a more beautiful day than I ever could have imagined. All of our guests were blown away by the Castle and the grounds. Our wedding at Dundas was perfect from start to finish. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting to celebrate and our guests especially loved the Auld Keep all lit up with candles on a rainy July day. As special as the venue is, it is the team at Dundas who really made the difference. We couldn’t imagine this day without Genevieve, who put us at ease from our very first visit and made the wedding day flow perfectly. She was an incredible source of support and joy before and throughout the wedding day.Our wedding at Dundas was perfect from start to finish. Our whole wedding weekend was magical, from the moment we arrived on Friday afternoon all the way through to waking up to a winter wonderland outside on Sunday morning. The Castle was such a spectacular venue for our special day and we had SO many comments about how wonderful both the Castle and the whole Dundas team were. We really couldn’t fault the service of your team - your friendliness and professionalism made our day that extra bit special! My personal highlights were: - spending the morning getting pampered with my girls in the Winter room. Such a beautifully decorated, warm and cosy room! - The Keep. What a fantastic place to have our ceremony! So many of our guests commented on how it was the most unique wedding ceremony they’d ever been to! - Having our own Scottish Castle for the weekend (not many people can say that!) It was so lovely to be able to have our friends and family under one roof for the whole weekend. Our wedding at Dundas Castle was perfect! The service provided by the staff at Dundas was exceptional – they really did make our wedding stress free and ensured everything ran smoothly all weekend. All of our friends and family who stayed with us at Dundas commented on how utterly brilliant and attentive the staff were – we were made to feel like royalty! From the moment we arrived at the Castle, all my pre-wedding stress left me! The Castle itself is so comfortable and relaxing, the grounds are gorgeous, and the pavilion provided us with a blank canvas which we transformed into the marquee of our dreams! We really did have the best day of our lives, with beautiful memories that will stay with us forever.Our wedding at Dundas Castle was perfect! We decided to get married in Scotland so that we could really soak in every moment of our wedding. When we found Dundas Castle and realised we could have a two day Castle wedding in beautiful South Queensferry, we knew it would be perfect. We had never seen the venue until we got there the day before the wedding. This might have made us nervous but it didn’t at all because the staff was so easy to communicate with and prepared for the big day. “From the moment we drove up the driveway of Dundas until we left the morning after the wedding everything was magical. The staff was incredibly helpful, fun, and easy to work with. Anything we needed, they had it for us. Our guests cannot stop telling us how amazing the whole experience was and the pictures with Dundas as the backdrop are absolutely incredible. We hired Dundas Castle for our wedding for two nights over July 4-5, 2019. Hollie was excellent with communication and details leading up to the day. Genevieve was an absolute DREAM the two days we were there and she just made sure everything was perfect. The entire team was top notch! From the moment we stepped into the castle they handled everything and made the day an absolute breeze. We had dinner in the stag room the night before our wedding and it was perfect. The day of the wedding was incredible and it had a lot to do with the amazing team at Dundas! “Words cannot describe how much my husband and I enjoyed our wedding at Dundas Castle. We got married 7th July 2018 and the venue could not have been more perfect. From the initial visit to the wedding itself, the staff continued to impress us with their experience, professionalism and ability to make each and every person feel at home. The venue and the grounds are absolutely beautiful, there was so much to see that our guests were spoilt for choice. We were lucky and got a glorious sunny day and had the ceremony in the courtyard which I highly recommend. After the ceremony, the guests wandered the house, grounds (which has a field of llamas!) and the Auld Keep before moving to the Pavilion for dinner. Dinner was amazing and there was plenty of space for our 145 guests and a great dance floor for our ceilidh. Staying the night made the whole day that bit more magical. We can honestly say it was the best day of our lives and it wouldn’t have been possible without the team at Dundas Castle. They made every second enjoyable and we did not have to worry about a thing. It is impossible for us to be able to pick our favourite wedding because they are all so unique. We do love how special our international weddings are- the mixture of cultures can create a very special day with some stunning national dress and fantastic entertainment such as Chinese Dancing Dragons!

What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Once you have booked your venue, book your four preferred suppliers immediately, this should include someone to marry you, a photographer, florist and band. We would also recommend booking your cake at a wedding show as they have some great discounts!

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

We think it is so important that someone walks the mother of the bride to her seat, this is a very special moment and shows that she has not been forgotten about.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?

The best photo opportunity at Dundas is having the Castle as a backdrop. This can be great just for couple shots or for a group photograph with all of your wedding guests.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?

We have had celebrity weddings and guests before but we don't like to reveal who as we are proud that our venue is incredibly private.

What’s your favourite canapé?

All the ladies in the office love the miniature lobster mac and cheese bites, totally scrumptious!!

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

We all love our food at Dundas Castle and believe it is a very important part of the wedding day. We have seen a fantastic array of evening buffets including nacho boxes, DIY hotdogs with all of the toppings and simple bacon rolls!

What is your venue's most unique feature?

The most unique feature of Dundas Castle is that it is exclusively yours. The whole Castle and its immediate grounds are closed off from the public so you can relax and make yourselves at home during your stay.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

We are most proud of the experience that our team has, some of our wedding planners have been at Dundas for 10 years and know a lot of tips to help you achieve your perfect wedding day. Our operations team have also helped many wedding couples so you can relax and enjoy your day knowing that we will ensure the whole day will run smoothly.
