Built in 1824 and set in 10 acres of beautiful woodland, East Dene Isle of Wight wedding venue is a tribute to Victorian splendour. The past home of Algernon Swinburne – Poet and Raconteur – it is a treasure trove of history, through its time as the Convent of the Sacred Heart and as a Country Hotel. We will host a memorable reception for you and your guests; up to 50 inside the grade 2 listed mansion house and up to 150 in our marquee following a wedding at the church of your choice. Book a full wedding service package, with a civil wedding or partnership, in one of our four licensed rooms. From weddings of the rich and famous to the girl next door, our focus is you. We will work with you to help create the wedding that you always imagined. With private use of the house and grounds you’ll get time to prepare for the big day, help us with any of the tiny details that will make a big difference, or maybe you’ll find time to relax in our hot tub… You’ll also benefit from our advice and contacts. We can arrange anything from flowers, cakes, marquee dressing, ordering wine, chefs. Even arranging activities such as a couples massage, pamper sessions, fishing boat trips, zorbing or golf. Beautiful venue Beautiful venue
This is one of my favourite venues! I really love the poetic ambience of the house, beautiful panelling and a stunning staircase so a bride can really make an entrance. The grounds are perfect for an outdoor wedding too. amazing views across The Channel. I just love it!This is one of my favourite venues! We didn’t have any issues on the day, the food was lovely and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Stella was very patient with us throughout all our extensive planning, she is an absolute star! We highly recommend this venue with its beautiful location and fantastic staff. Thank you for making our wedding weekend an unforgettable event! Everything here is magical! The views are breathtaking, the rooms are beautiful and the staff were amazing! Nothing was too much bother, Stella went above and beyond to make sure our day was perfect. She went from organising guests, transporting fish to taking care of a child that got too overwhelmed!! We honestly couldn't have asked for anything more and would like to thank you for all you have done in the last 18months!Everything here is magical! The views are breathtaking, the rooms are beautiful and the staff were amazing! Nothing was too much bother, Stella went above and beyond to make sure our day was perfect. She went from organising guests, transporting fish to taking care of a child that got too overwhelmed!! We had our zombie wedding here Sept 2017 & everything about the place, the build up, & the staffing team was AWESOME! Stella is incredible, a genuinely lovely person who was so laid back (particularly considering what we wanted to to to her beautiful location!) & super efficient at getting everything & anything done, she was incredibly tolerant & helped to make the day the roaring success it ended up being. The venue is fantastic, as are the grounds, & we could not have wished for a better team to support our day, who all even opted to make themselves into fantastic zombies! best day of our livesbest day of our lives
We had the best day of our lives. Every little detail was taken into consideration. Nothing was too much trouble for the team to do for us, they all went above and beyond. All of our guests enjoyed themselves and were looked after equally as well as we were. The food was brilliant and the wedding organiser planned it all perfectly. The rooms and grounds are beautiful so we have lots of wonderful photos. Highly recommend. We had the best day of our lives. Every little detail was taken into consideration. Nothing was too much trouble for the team to do for us, they all went above and beyond. All of our guests enjoyed themselves and were looked after equally as well as we were. The food was brilliant and the wedding organiser planned it all perfectly. The rooms and grounds are beautiful so we have lots of wonderful photos. Highly recommend.

Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?

Other than my own wedding reception (which has to be the best of course), we hosted an Indian/English wedding and reception. There was a mandup erected on our lower field for 2 of the hindu ceremonies, there was also an english civil ceremoy follwed later that afternoon with a renewal of vows by the same registrars. The meals were a traditional English ploughmans lunch with a local cheeseboard, then our chefs created the the brides grandparents family recipe of indian dishes.

What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?

It's your day, have it the way you want it.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

I encourage couples to add personal touched to their wedding and make it their own, not just any other wedding. Each one we do here is bespoke and has personal inputs from themselves and family members, from using grandma's vintage china for high tea right through to the home-made favours for the guests.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?

There's so many, either with the sea views framing your perfect day or with the mansion house as a backdrop.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?

The closest to 'celebrity' we have had have been, one of the previous producers of 'The Basil Brush Show', we also hosted the ceremony and receptio for the 2 co-organisers of The Bestival.

What’s your favourite canapé?

Roast beef with caramelised red onion in miniature yorkshire puddings.

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

Cheese and crackers, not good of a night time I know but its my favourite :-)

What is your venue's most unique feature?

We've been told many times that what makes us unique is that we are down to earth, relaxed and flexible when needed. We put our own personal touch on each wedding as well as the bride and groom having the overall say so on how they want their day to be.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

Our approach to every wedding being individual.
