Description
Island Hall is well situated on a main & accessible road, but behind us is a true secret garden and we look out onto nothing but green as far as the eye can see. The river and Port Holme are directly behind the house, so your guests will be treated to some very special and unobstructed views.
We are a small family run and owned venue and pride ourselves on a bespoke service and in providing a venue which will be exclusively yours. We don't have specific packages, but prefer to tailor everything to suit you. Helping a maximum of 15 couples each year, we are the opposite of ‘a conveyor belt wedding venue’! At Island Hall have been running events for over 30 years, but especially enjoy offering guests a unique Wedding Day experience.
We aim to keep our pricing simple, with no hidden charges. Island Hall has a set Venue Hire fee and fully inclusive marquee or tent quotes (from our approved supplier) to suit your particular requirements. We are happy to recommend two approved caterers whose menus can be easily tailored and are designed to give you flexibility within your budget (something more casual like a BBQ is not a problem), to choose the right meal for this special day. We can accommodate between 10-220 guests.

The house and grounds are stunning - we loved having drinks on the gorgeous lawn outside the house with views of the river, and then moving onto the island for a marquee reception. The ground provided so many opportunities for amazing photographs and it felt like us and our guests were in our own little magical world. I must have driven past Island Hal on the main road hundreds of times, not realising what a special place I was passing by. Christopher and Grace Vane Percy could not have been more helpful in helping us to organise our day and making us feel welcome and at home. Highly recommended either for a visit or to host a special event. Thank you. The house is exceptionally elegant but full of character and warmth, and Grace and her father are just the same! We were able to plan an intimate and personal ceremony in the main hall, then afterwards to share drinks and photos with our guests, enjoying the magical garden. I felt very cared for and all of our wishes were met. So we didn't want to be constrained to a way of 'doing things' enforced by a stuffy venue limiting our choices. So when by pure chance someone mentioned Island Hall in passing, it was the only venue we went to look at. Even viewing on a cold winters day we knew it would be perfect... In reality on a summers day it was even more perfect and so many of our guests said it was one of the nicest wedding settings they had ever been too. Being allowed to add lots of our own touches made it even better. Christopher and Grace from the very first meeting and any subsequent dealings were extremely helpful and accommodating, offering both tips and solutions when needed. And on the day behind the scenes made everything run smoothly! If the pictures on the website haven't already sold it to you then we couldn't praise Island Hall highly enough. We had a perfect day and words just don't do that justice in a simple testimonial. The house itself (including the magnificent staircase!) was very beautiful but not overbearing. The immaculate gardens were the perfect setting for our August wedding in the sunshine and all of our guests absolutely loved the venue - with most having never known of it despite us living nearby. (This was one of the many things I loved about Island Hall - not many people have heard of it so your wedding is truly unique). Heading over the bridge to the Island was very magical and felt like a fairytale. Here we celebrated all night with our loved ones. When we found Island Hall we knew it was something special. On going to meet Grace at the venue, we could only imagine ourselves here, and didn't bother going to look at any other venues...we knew this was the one...it was love at first sight! Grace and Christopher were amazing! They helped with the finest of details, from Christopher sailing us from our church to Island Hall on the 'Island Queen' down the river Ouse, to letting us hide our surprise surfboard wedding presents from one another and being in total cahoots with us! We were able to get the most unimaginable photographs of us strolling around the grounds, in amongst the weeping willow and a perfect sunset shot as the sun set over Porte Holme meadow - the exact place we had our first date. Our guests commented on how friendly and hospitable the Vane Percy's were and what an incredible secret Huntingdon had to offer in Island Hall. Zak and I have lived in Huntingdon all of our lives and never imagined such beauty lay behind this grand house in Godmanchester! Being able to say we sailed from our church to venue and then had our wedding breakfast on an Island is not something a lot of people can say, and we're so grateful that we can!
