The impressive Hall and gardens are largely as they were in 1600; think boxy hedges, mazes of shrubbery, gravel paths leading to statement water features and plush plants lining the edge of Oxnead Hall’s very own lake. This remarkable setting recently picked up ‘Wedding Venue Of the Year’ at the Eastern Daily Press Wedding Awards 2017, providing further proof of just how special this stunning hall and barn really is.
Today, Oxnead is a family house and on your wedding day, you’ve free reign to glide seamlessly from celebration to celebration. Beside the formal gardens and in front of sprawling woodland is St Michael’s Church, perfect for a traditional ceremony.
Alternatively, explore a little further and you’ll find The Orangery. You can just imagine the sweet-smelling fruit wafting through the door of this pretty building once upon a time, with its large windows, stone flooring and white busts perched atop pedestals. The light is just right in here and perfect for professional photographs, much like in The Great Barn, which is a short walk away. Ideal for a vibrant reception party, The Great Barn is grand and spacious, allowing you to put your stamp on it. Every part of the venue - the accommodation, the fountain room, the hall, the grounds, are all so perfect, it was exactly what we wanted our dream venue to be. It was simply magical. All through the planning process Lucy was absolutely fantastic, and always got back to me very quickly whenever I had a query. I'm totally in awe of her of how amazing she and the team were on the day! They had thought and planned for everything! They even tided up the bridal suite for us before we got back to the room at the end of the night, which was the most amazing surprise! The wedding breakfast didn’t disappoint either - every single guest commented on how wonderful all the food was, and that they were decent portions too, not those tiny plates you so often get at weddings. We had chicken mains, and not a single portion was dry - very impressive! The most mentioned thing at our wedding was how incredibly attentive, friendly and helpful all the staff were. Every single guest mentioned this to us at some point. Oxnead Hall is the best place to get married because of the incredible team that work so tirelessly behind the scenes all day and night, and do it all very calmly and with a genuine smile. We were helped so much throughout the whole process & even now after the wedding. I always got a quick response back to any questions. Everything was run so smoothly and professionally on the day. They were also able to recreate a dessert an unusual dessert we asked for. We had a guest with mobility problems (which was sprung in them last minute) and they were able to help her around the venue and made sure she was comfortable. There was never anything to big or too small - from last minute changes, to helping me fix my dress disaster on the day! Im so thankful we had Emily from UNV looking afternoon us!The food was beautiful. So many people repeated said how good it all was. They were also able to recreate a dessert an unusual dessert we asked for. We had a guest with mobility problems (which was sprung in them last minute) and they were able to help her around the venue and made sure she was comfortable. The whole site is absolutely beautiful and has kept its character - but has been brought up to high quality modern standards and the staff cannot do enough to help you. The grounds were extensive and stunningly looked after and manicured, the flexibility of the accommodation was a real positive and the venue itself was beautiful. To have three different amazing options for drinks/ breakfast/ dancing meant you could be flexible on the day if the weather was good or bad which Jaymi handled brilliantly and we could not have asked for a better organised day at a beautiful venueOxnead Hall was our perfect wedding venue. We fell in love with it as soon as we saw it. The grounds were extensive and stunningly looked after and manicured, the flexibility of the accommodation was a real positive and the venue itself was beautiful. Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
All our weddings have been so different and unique; equally as memorable for a variety of reasons. One wedding this Summer - on the 11th July stands out in our memories. It was Sophie and Utsav's Wedding. The day started at 10am with a traditional Hindu ceremony in the beautiful ornamental maze garden. The ceremony was full of colour, fragrance and tradition - it was beautiful and so interesting to witness. Following this was the traditional civil ceremony overlooking the lake in the tree lined garden. It was clear to see how in love these wonderful people were. It was a privilege to be part of such a special day.
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Enjoy the process! Don't stress over every decision, make a decision and stick to it or you will cause yourself unnecessary heartache. Most important is have no regrets; on the day all your worries will fall into insignificance and it'll be a fantastic day to treasure so make sure you relax and enjoy it and don't worry about everyone else - just think about the two of you.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
Every wedding is so different and personal, one particular highlight has to be a couple Frankie and Jon. Jon had always loved Lego and they decided that they would create a unique table plan! Every person was represented by a Lego character and had their own place around a Lego table with their name tag. This was then tied into the cake - one side a traditional formal cake, the other side had a panel of Lego with a Lego bride and groom - fantastic.
