I welcome them to my cake studio with tea, coffee and cake! Then, I ascertain any thoughts that they might have already. If they wish, I then add my own and offer numerous ideas and options, most of which they haven't thought of. I physically build a 'mock up' cake as we go along, incorporating ideas which they like and discarding those that they don't! At the end of the consultation, which typically lasts between 1-2 hours, they usually take a photograph of their mock - up to show to others. THey leave very happy, with cake to take home!
