Last year I delivered a wedding cake to the Crazy Bear in Stadhampton, which was a venue I had always wanted to see and it didn't disappoint! It was absolutely stunning and I was blown away. My couple had a really cool bat themed purple wedding cake, and they were just a really lovely couple to work with.
My cake style is- Creative, unusual, different, colourful, pretty
The reviews I get from my customers make me feel like all the hard work is worth it! I love what I do and I love when my customers are over the moon.
Keep an open mind and don't be afraid to try something new or something you may not have looked at before. Give you and your guests something memorable.
Handmade handstitched napkins for every guest with their initials on them. So pretty!
After a couple have contacted me with a wedding cake enquiry, I first check my availability then give them a rough idea of prices and my style. Then I invite them for a cake consultation with tasting, where they get to taste 5 delicious flavours of cake. We discuss in more detail the style, theme, sizes and everything from cake stand hire to colour of the ribbons, and of course a quote. Following the consultation I send the meeting notes by email so they can read through everything which was discussed. If they are happy to proceed I do colour cake sketches of designs so they can see their ideas come to life on paper. If they are happy with everything I take a 50% deposit to secure their wedding date. I'll then communicate with them via email to discuss any more cake details. I'll also contact their florist, if they are using one, and their wedding co-ordinator at their chosen venue.
The one which I call my "chocolate flower cascade cake" which is chocolate ganache with a beautiful abundance of handmade chocolate flowers in pinks, blues and purples flowing down the front. It was for a very special wedding photo shoot at a beautiful Cotswold venue. It's still my favourite cake to date!
I once had a couple who wanted 4 seperate cakes, not stacked in tiers but on their own individual cake stands. Each was a different colour and had a silver drip and macarons. It was pretty cool and different.
I went to university to study art & design, which I loved but I felt I hadn't yet found my true artistic passion in life. So when I came home I went to college and trained as a chef, specialising in pastry and learning all the skills I could, especially in making chocolate! Following that I worked as a pastry chef for a number of years in a fine dining restaurant, hotels and various bakeries. I had my son in 2014 and decided to start a cake business from home in 2016 so I could continue doing what I loved but also have time with my family. I have built my skill and passion up over the last 4 years, and I now realise the wedding industry is truly where I get to create the cakes which make my heart sing.
Something big, tall and chocolatey with lots of chocolate flowers!
