Martin Hobby Full Description

I'm Martin, I probably think that I'm cooler than I actually am. I'm 42, I absolutely adore my family. My wife Dawn is amazing, she is also my business partner and does all the boring bits of running business that I don't like, book keeping and stuff like that. We have an nine year old son, Ollie, he is genuinely the coolest person I know and my best mate. I shot my first wedding 27 years ago, when I was juts 16 years old, along side my Dad who was also a professional wedding photographer. So it kinda runs in the blood! I love music, its on constantly in our house, and while I'm editing photos I'm often chatting to friends on Facebook about new albums that we find. I'd say my music tastes are quite eclectic, and I will listen to most things, but I am definitely an old punk at heart! We have recently moved to Holmes Chapel in Cheshire, as this is where Dawn grew up. We only moved up here from Kent/London in September 2018, but its going well so far and we are all loving the calmer pace of life. I also like rum. I'm scared of frogs. (Long story)

Martin is an absolute star - highly recommended!

We hired Martin to photograph our wedding after seeing his portfolio online - which stood out from a lot of the more generic stuff we saw when searching for a photographer. We had a lovely pre-wedding meeting with him where he was very thorough in finding out exactly what we wanted from our wedding photographs. On the day he was an absolute legend - he did a great job of coordinating a large and rowdy bunch of guests (with a lot of patience and humour!) to get the shots we wanted, He dealt with an unexpected day of wet weather (in July!) and came up with some creative and inventive ideas to get some interesting shots despite the rain. Martin was in touch fairly soon after the wedding with a small sample selection of images and then the full collection came fairly soon after that. The final images were gorgeous and we could not have been happier with them. We would happily and highly recommend Martin to anyone looking for high quality, professional wedding photography with a bit of creative flair and fantastic customer service!

What is your most memorable wedding?

I am lucky enough to photograph some really awesome weddings so there are lots of stand out ones, from guests skinny dipping in the sea, to steampunk bands, and ceremonies in the middle of the woods. Every wedding is amazing in its own way.

I love hand made stuff, little touches that people have spent time over rather than lots of money.

We meet, they fall in love, we share a wedding day.

What is the No.1 photo that you think every couple should take?

A selfie with me.

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

The most original photos are the ones that happen without any planning. A full dance floor in the evening can make for some really original photos!

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Bring some wellies! Rain does not stop play. If it rains, pop some wellies on and lets get some cracking photos!

Describe how you got into photography.

My Dad was a wedding photographer, I shot my first wedding under his guidance at 16, I'm still doing it 25 years later.
