We travelled to Wales to document an intimate wedding in the depths of Winter. It POURED with rain so we could barely leave the hotel! The storm really picked up in the afternoon and just as the meal was served, all the lights/music etc went out. Everyone sat in darkness before lighting a billion candles...it was one of the most incredible atmospheres and resulted in some wonderfully, creative, photography. I love the unexpected!
Honest, Romantic, Relaxed, Intimate, Fun
That it's grown almost entirely by word of mouth...it astounds me that so many people recommend me! Whenever I leave a wedding and a guest comes to me and says 'when we marry, I'm booking you' I know I've done something right!
Remember what you're doing it all for! It's SO easy to lose sight of what's important amidst table plans and choosing flowers. Make sure you find time for one another and don't spend it wedding planning.
Wow, so many! Hand made chutney favours, handwritten thank you notes to each guest, recovery kits for the morning after (!) baskets of blankets and shawls for barn weddings...I've witnessed so many thoughtful gestures...I wish I could marry again so that I could steal some of the ideas!
I love to chat with people properly! I do this as early on as possible as it's easy to send emails to and fro but connecting and chatting is SO important when you're trying to find a photographer to spend the entire day with. I offer couples the chance to look at my brochure and give them a feel for how I work and if they think I'm the girl for them, the next thing is to arrange a meet up! Following a coffee (and cake!) and a look through albums, if they wish to go ahead and book then they are sent digital booking forms and a personalised contract and we go from there! It's all very sociable and civilised! :)
Every couple should have a photograph of them laughing together....100% I love the romantic, whimsical ones but honestly? Life is about the laughter you share together so that is SO important.
The Bride jumping up and down on the bed in her dress!
Don't be afraid of it. Ok, you don't want to be soaked through and muddy before you even say your vows but this is a one day event and it can't be reenacted so be brave as you can bear to be. Wellies on, umbrellas up...laugh it off. I've never had a rainy wedding yet where we'e failed to get awesome pictures and it's all because my couples have just decided to go with the flow.
I have always been an art lover and dreamed of being an artist....but I couldn't paint people! I picked up a camera and fell in love. My own wedding photographer turned out to be inspirational and motivating and encouraged me to use my talents to start a business. Now, he is a dear friend and colleague and I'm the artist I always dreamed I'd be!
