We recently did a wedding where the bride rode side saddle to the venue and the bridesmaid came on a carriage. The ceremony was held outside a barn that had been specially decorated and was next to a large lake and a wild flower meadow that the bride and groom had planted especially for their special day. The weather wasn't kind to us though. The bride had planned to make a long dramatic ride through fields to get to the barn. The Groom was not aware of any of this. On the day all the preplanning went out of the window as the route the bride had chosen was deemed too danderous for her horse so she had to take a different route that we weren't aware of. This meant our 2 photographers scampering through waist high grass to get into position so that we could record this very important part of their day. We did it and we managed to get the bemused look on the grooms face when she came into view but it's the wettest we have ever been taking Wedding photos.
Thirty years ago my Father worked as an assistant to a Craftsman of the Guild of Wedding photographers which he did for for two years before venturing out on his own. He also went on lots of the Guilds training sessions. Ten years ago I started helping him as his second camera and he taught me not only how to use a DSLR but also what was required to run a Wedding photography business. Last year I took over leading the business. When we are not taking Wedding photos we also do alot of sport photography - mainly football and equestrian. I can say I have covered matches at Carrow road and Portman road with him and have had quite a lot of photos in the local papers and a few in the national dailies too.
