Venue hire includes the exclusive use of Danby Castle from midday to midnight. Access the day before if applicable. Use of fully licensed ceremony room and furniture, threshing barn, snug, castle ruins, lawn and barn, dance floor and stage area. Includes tables, chairs, cutlery, crockery, glassware and white linen. Two fully licensed bars, full PA system throughout the venue, indoor and outdoor lighting. - AAbbie & Lee22/01/2020The most perfect day in every wayThe most perfect day in every wayI was lucky enough to grow up in a village not far from Danby so I knew the area well. Knowing that we wanted to get married with the stunning backdrop of the Yorkshire Moors we set out to find a venue. We had heard of Danby Castle but didn't know too much about the actual building and so we visited a wedding fayre there to see what it was all about. In all honesty, at this stage, we didn't expect this to be THE venue for us, i'm not sure why, we just didn't. How wrong we were!! The surroundings of the Castle are so picturesque but Danby Castle itself steals the show. It is beautiful and as soon as we stepped foot in that wedding fayre we just knew that this is where we wanted to be married. We married in the castle chapel there and spent the afternoon mingling in the grounds in the sun. The team allowed us to conduct our speeches outside in the ruins which we were very pleased about as it gave the whole experience a very relaxed feel. The wedding meal pies were delicious and they catered well for a wedding party full of allergies and dietary requirements. We were picky about the look of our wedding breakfast room and wanted long wooden bench style tables. The team at Danby Castle were flexible with us and allowed us the freedom to make the venue our own, injecting our vision into it wherever we could. The team on the day went above and beyond, even checking in with us when some guests tried to abuse the pre-paid for bar by ordering too many jegar bombs! All of our guests have commented on how perfect the venue was. They particularly loved the variety of rooms and how it felt like you were been lead through the day rather than spending the full day in one room or being booted out whilst the venue turn the room around (which is the case in many other venue we come across). We would highly recommend Danby Castle to all those looking for a wedding venue. We loved that there's a ceremony room on site, a separate room for the dance floor and the snug! The pies were absolutely delicious, so many of our guests commented on how amazing they were. The barn has so much character it barely needed decorating and the views over the moors made for awesome photos. It was quite windy and a bit rainy on our wedding day but the barn easily accommodated all our guests inside in the warm. Overall I don't think there was anything else we could have wanted, it was the perfect venue in all aspects! Thank you so much to the team of Danby castle. You need to visit to see just how stunningly beautiful it is - trust us - you won't regret it. Planning the day was seamless as Carolyn, Max and Phil were wonderful. They made everything so easy and stress free. The day itself was better than we could ever have imagined. The staff were so attentive without being intrusive. The food was AMAZING, all our guests commented on this (we had Pie and Mash, then Fish and Chips). We danced the night away, and we are both so grateful for everything the team at Danby Castle did to make our day so perfect. The food was absolutely delicious and many of our guests have commented on the great service too. Carolyn and the team were so helpful and flexible during the planning stages allowing us to use the courtroom for our drinks reception and recommending great local suppliers. From the first email I felt at ease. I was recommended what would work and a photographer that was incredible. Caroline made little choices easier to make with her helpful suggestions. Even clearing up the next day, everything was taken down and ready to remove when we arrived, with left over pizza and tales of all our guests fun. I just wish I could do it all again. The overall feel is so romantic and not forgetting the stunning views. Everyone has said how fantastic the location and venue was. We are the experts, we don't expect you to be experts. You make think you're asking a silly question but I can assure you that we've already been asked before. Your wedding is said to be the best day of your life, which means that planning the best day of your life should be fun and enjoyable!
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
We encourage couples to add personal touches around the venue as we believe that wedding days should be reflective of the couple getting married. Some of our favourite personal touches are personalised guest books and table names that are personal to the couple eg. Paris is the table name and that is where the couple got engaged, Danby is the table name and that is where to couple got married etc.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
The lawn overlooking the Esk Valley...but there are so many beautiful places for photos around us. Your photographer will be spoilt for choices to get the most amazing shots!
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
Yes! From soap stars to olympic athletes - as we are away from prying eyes!! But we are not going to tell you who!
What’s your favourite canapé?
Miniature Yorkshire puddings with roast beef and horseradish cream...or the baby roast potatoes with cream cheese and chives...or the cajun chicken skewers
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Our fab homemade pizza or our big fat supper buns stuffed full of BBQ pulled pork with Chefs fab crackling straws on the side!
What is your venue's most unique feature?
The original judge's bench in the Court Room, the intricate wood panelling in the Jury Room, the remains of the threshing machine in the Threshing Barn, the ancient Danby Castle Ruins overlooking the stunning Esk Valley and the authentic wooden beams in our newly renovated Barn...plus the ruins!
What part of your business are you most proud of?
