Macdonald Bath Spa can be found nestled amongst 7 acres of stunning private gardens in the very heart of the historic city of Bath. From the moment your carriage touches upon our sweeping, tree lined driveway - you'll be immersed in the luxuries of our majestic hotel. This beautiful Georgian hotel provides a fairy-tale setting that every bride dreams of, with its beautiful gardens featuring fountains, ponds and even a grotto.
Our hotel in Bath is a romantic venue for your special day and the most stunning of backdrops for your wedding photos. Our wedding suites can comfortably host up to 120 guests during your celebration, or enjoy a summer wedding in our gardens, where your guests can sip Champagne after an elegant outdoor ceremony.
Our experienced wedding co-coordinator will gladly assist in creating your special day and a package tailored to you, be it an intimate family occasion or a grand celebration. Our highly skilled chefs will also work with you to create a wedding breakfast that you and your guests will remember for years to come. They work with only the freshest seasonal ingredients, sourced locally where possible to create delicious dishes.

From our first visit to meet with you, through to the menu tasting and wine selection to the day itself. the hotel staff were helpful and looked after us in the most professional and friendly manner. Your recommendation to use Edward for the flowers was inspired and he did a beautiful job for us. It had been a roller coaster ride since the weekend when we thought it could not happen so it was a huge relief to be able to go ahead. The Kennet and Admiralty rooms were the perfect choice for the day and looked really lovely. The staff who looked after us were fantastic and the food was really excellent. It really could not have been a more perfect day with lots of absent friends and family around the world watching the ceremony being streamed. Two of Eleanor’s best friends who live in Australia set their alarms for 1am so they could watch online - they did ask was it ok if they wore pyjamas. The sun shone and we all enjoyed ourselves immensely managing to make some special memories for both families. Thank you so much for putting Eleanor and Alex in the suite – they really felt very special and it made the whole occasion very memorable for them. Ella and Rhys always wanted a quieter more low key affair and the hotel was perfect for a more intimate celebration with immediate family. Thank you so much for organising the setting up of the room for the ceremony and quickly transferring it to the setting for the wedding breakfast. It looked wonderful. The staff were really excellent and looked after us all beautifully. Please pass on our thanks to all the staff who were so kind and provided excellent service to make it such a memorable day. We arrived in our room to find we had been treated to bubbly. In the evening we ate in the Hotel Restaurant, We had a sharing Camembert .... for my main I chose Surf and turf ... steak and lobster 🦞... it was absolutely gorgeous my now husband chose rump steak he really enjoyed it too. There was an amazing choice of food the next morning from the buffet style breakfast to the menu choices of cooked breakfast. The hotel has many facilities to use, we enjoyed the swimming pools the ice room and the saunas. We returned after our ceremony and were greeted kindly by the staff with a glass of Bubbly. We had a fantastic experience here and will definitely be returning. Emma Nottingham kindly called us Monday 23rd March to advise us they thought the hotel would be closing that evening. A few phone calls later and we managed to push our wedding date forward and just beat the lockdown! Then the marriage ban 😱. We are so relieved and so grateful. Especially to the general manager Lorraine Jarvie who allowed it and Emma for making it happen. We have also had so many prompt and kind messages from Petra Antal who had been helping us organise it up until the COVID 19 pandemic took over. Such a beautiful hotel and fantastic grounds. We can’t wait to return and celebrate as soon as it’s safe to do so!This hotel literally made our dreams come true 😍. - SSue & Will20/10/2020Happy coupleHappy coupleHello Benice, Thank you again for all you did to make the wedding such a success. It was a fabulous day and everyone had a brilliant time. The weather was kind to us, after a sudden shower, when the group photos were being taken, the sun came out and the photographer was able to resume. He took lots of photos in the grounds, and continued snapping till about 8pm! Lots of the guests were able to take drinks on the terrace, in the sunshine, throughout the day. The food was great and could you pass on a massive thank you to the serving staff who were friendly and efficient and worked diligently right up until the end of the night, sorting out and leaving all the wedding props and boxes in clear view; so it was an easier job for us to remove it all in the morning. It was much appreciated. The evening entertainment was fab! and right from the first dance the dance floor was never empty. What made it so special was that William has been in Japan for 6 years and so has missed several of his friends weddings and this was an opportunity for everyone to celebrate together which made it an extremely emotional time for everyone. I was so relieved it had all come together so well considering the distances between us all. I thank my lucky stars your hotel was available on that date it was a perfect venue for the wedding. Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
For a romantic photo, it has to be the Temple over looking the pond and landscape gardens. For a photo with all your guests it has to be on the steps leading to the gardens with the hotel in the background.
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
We often have celebrity guests at the hotel! We would love to be involved with a celebrity wedding!
What’s your favourite canapé?
Tomato and mozzarella arancini or pulled pork and apple bon bon! Yum yum.
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Savoury crisps and dip or a selection of cheeses.
