Description

Midelney Manor is a completely unique and romantic Elizabethan manor house set in the heart of the Somerset countryside. A magical setting for any wedding or celebration. Stepping out of the house and into the 17th Century walled garden definitely has the “wow” factor and makes an idyllic setting for drinks and canapés. Beyond this garden lie several others including the Round Garden, which is perfect for a large marquee or tipi. Ancient oak trees, flower filled borders and well thought out planting create a beautiful English country garden. Set in the heart of the garden lies the beautiful 18th Century Potting Shed. This huge barn has lovely old stonework and ancient beams covered in 1920’s flower show prize cards. It has many uses including, a bar lounge, ceremony or reception space. There is a fabulous rustic bar with chesterfield sofas, eclectic furniture, Persian rugs and some old Cely Trevilian portraits on the wall! At the end of the garden lies Washams Woods which is a magical place for a woodland blessing.

We couldn’t have had a more idyllic location than your lovely house and garden, which on a sunny evening at the end of summer looked particularly beautiful. But what made it really special was your meticulous organization of all the different elements that were needed to make it work. The marquee, the music, the really delicious catering, all were perfect, and everything worked without a single hitch. Midelney Manor is enchanting. The beautiful house with really lovely grounds made for a truly wonderful wedding amid the tranquillity of the Somerset Levels. Six months on we are still getting comments from friends and family on how it was the most perfect setting for a wedding. Alice could not have been kinder, more thoughtful or more helpful and her recommended caterers were genuinely brilliant. She made the whole process entirely stress free for us.
