Description

Sopley Mill still has the stunning original features of the watermill with its oak beams, incredible views over the Avon water meadows and flanked on both sides by the river Avon. The wild location is stunning and completely private without a house in view – and just minutes from Bournemouth and Christchurch! There are 3 main floors to the building linked by a lift. The top floor (3rd floor) has seating space for 100 and a kitchen. The 2nd floor has a dance floor and ceremony room on it and the ground floor is a chill out/drinks area. We have two rooms which are licensed for weddings. There is also a bridal suite for your use on the day. In the summer months, the huge terrace is the ideal reception spot but in case it rains there is plenty of room on the ground floor for 100 people to have drinks inside. And in the winter months two log fires, plenty of candles and twinkly lights make the Mill warm, cosy and very romantic. Although the Mill fits 100 for a sit-down wedding breakfast it can fit 140 for a more informal style wedding or if you want more evening guests. Whether your wedding is small and intimate or a larger affair, the Mill is the perfect venue. We offer two different options for couples wanting to use this incredible building for their wedding. Option 1 is just hiring the building and creating your own fantastic day. This is for couples who want to design their own wedding and make sure it is completely unique. Option 2 is for those who want a bit more help and guidance and would like the Sopley Mill team to organise your day with you. For anyone wanting to organise their own day we have a list of well-known local suppliers who can make planning your big day a breeze. But that is up to you, you may prefer to do it yourself.

Just beautiful Just beautiful
Fantastic service -A blank canvas to express yourself in any way you want to. Th rustic vintage feel of the venue means there is very little decorating you need to do for it to look stunning beautiful exposed brick and beautiful furniture too. Would recommend a thousands times over nothing like a beautiful setting near a river with swans swimming and near by fields with wild horses to really get your photos to look stunning.Fantastic service -A blank canvas to express yourself in any way you want to. Our wedding was absolutely stunning and part of that was down to our beautiful venue, Sopley Mill. When searching for a venue we were so lucky to find this place as it was exactly what we wanted. Booking and all communication was very simple and easy to understand. There’s so much to think about with a wedding but Sopley made it very easy. The grounds are beautifully looked after and there’s hundreds of photo opportunities. The only reason this didn’t get 5 stars is because in the evening, we continually had a man working at the Mill (we never actually found out who he was) push his way through the dance floor interrupting my friends and family enjoying themselves to complain at the band being too loud. This would be understandable if the band had increased the volume limit but they were well aware of that and followed the rules. The man was very rude and knocked a table of glasses at one point causing them to break. Luckily our band and friends and family took it all in good humour. Stunning venue, perfect for any weather because there are so many locations inside and out for beautiful photos. Our guests loved it. We liked having different floors so that people could get away from the noisy music if they preferred. Our experience with the venue was almost perfect. The main let down was slow communication at times (via email) and mix-ups with when we were allowed to set up which caused us considerable stress. However generally the staff were very helpful throughout and we were very pleased with our choice. I have had the pleasure of photographing many weddings at Sopley Mill and I can honestly say that it is one of my very favourite venues! It's absolutely stunning in every way, from the beautiful landscape and water meadows surrounding the mill, the rustic brick work, the quirky layout, it is everything you could ever want for your wedding. It is a complete blank canvas for you to decorate as you wish, but it's honestly so beautiful already that you'll barely need to do anything. The staff are lovely too and I always look forward to my weddings at Sopley Mill. We had the most perfect day at Sopley Mill, everything was seamless and the venue was just stunning. Thank you so much for everything. If I was to say there could be just one improvement (all be it minor) I would say it would have been really helpful for the mill staff who are opening the doors etc to control the entrance of the bride music as we had to ask a guest to do it as the bridesmaids were with me and the groomsmen up the front. The guest although he had been shown how it worked still got it wrong and played the wrong music which was pretty awkward. If staff could have done it, it would have been a real weight off the shoulders and then we wouldn't have had to rely on a guest. Other than that, utterly perfect in every way! 😊 Thank you so much again to you and the rest of the team making our day so special.We had the most perfect day at Sopley Mill, everything was seamless and the venue was just stunning. We absolutely loved our wedding at Sopley Mill. The ceremony room was beautiful and we feel that it was much more romantic and tasteful compared to a LOT of other weddings we have been to in churches, hotels, barns etc. The outside is gorgeous along with the river. The other areas inside are perfect too. We feel that your organisation and communication with us far exceeded our expectations and helped keep everything easy for us. We particularly liked the clearing up service from Toms Bar as this helped ease any logistical stresses at the end of the day. We loved Signature catering. They were very good value, and the food quality and service was to a very high standard and we got great feedback off of every guest. The car park was very handy, in that it had plenty of space and stress free parking for us and all our guests, and the option to leave the cars overnight pleased many a person who planned to have a drink. You went to great lengths after the wedding to help us find a missing gift which was great. Your communication throughout the booking and planning stages has been fantastic and very clear to avoid any misinterpretations or confusion about your services etc and the rules about the venue.We absolutely loved our wedding at Sopley Mill.
