From the initial enquiry to the big day our team will make sure no detail is overlooked. Our fully inclusive packages start from £2,995 or you can build your own bespoke wedding with our help by choosing from our Gold or Diamond wedding breakfast, drinks or buffet menus to create your perfect day. Located next door to the picturesque Daisy Nook Park and central to both Oldham & Ashton-Under-Lyne, we have three beautiful rooms that can accommodate wedding parties from 10 to 300 guests. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and provide a genuine warm welcome for you and all your guests. We have 73 en-suite bedrooms with a choice of standard, executive & superior suites. We had the most perfect wedding. On 20th September 2019 we got wed, and I know its a daunting/nervous/exciting time, I was made completely at ease by the wedding team at smokies. Sophie Rothwell is an absolute gem! from being there the night before to organise our family meal to texting me in the run up to check everything was ok - no hounding us for money or making us feel pressured into extras to calming my nerves before I walked down the aisle. Nothing was too much trouble. Sophie ensured I was in the loop on everything, including when my husband had arrived, showing me photos of how the room looked so I didn't have to go downstairs in my dressing gown, making sure I was happy where everything was. She had organsied all our favours and other wedding bits into a meeting room the night before that was locked. About an hour before I got married I started to get really nervous, she come upstairs to check on me, held my hand and calmed me down, she took the rings and the men's corsages down and spoke with David. honestly she took care of everything, she was one step ahead all the time. The wedding venue itself was perfectly decorated, all my guests commented on it. The meal was served on time and rapid, and it was gorgeous to say the least. not one late of food wrong, or returned and I had 89 guests in the day! when it got changed round for the evening, there was no panic, no stress, nothing. all I can say is if you are thinking of booking Smokies - then do it. The venue the food the staff are amazing, but Sophie is something else, she deserves a gold medal for what she does, she is a true diamond to the Best Western group. Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?

We hosted an exclusive wedding a few years ago at Halloween. It was a usually wedding reception in the day and then before the evening reception started the guests went to get changed into costumes. The Bride and Groom hired face painters and even the staff were allowed to dress up. The bridal party even performed a 'flash mob' dance routine to Thriller by Micheal Jackson which was a great surprise for their guests.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

You wont be able to please everyone - so don't try! Plan for the wedding YOU want, not a wedding that everyone else wants.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

A wedding we hosted a few months ago named their tables after their favourite cocktails. They provided mini mason jars with cocktails to correspond with the table names as wedding favours - great personal touch.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?

We have a little garden at the front of the hotel which we maintain throughout the year. Our nearest beauty spot is Park Bridge Heritage Centre which is about 2 minutes down the road.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?

What’s your favourite canapé?

Chocolate dipped strawberries in summer are beautiful.

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

You cannot go wrong with bacon rolls with lots of ketchup. Mini fish and chip cones are good too!

What is your venue's most unique feature?

Our staff! We really are a lovely bunch - when you book your wedding with us you become more of a friend than a customer.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

We are so proud of the industry awards we have won over the last few years - we are always blown away by the support our brides and grooms give us.
