It was built in 1891 based on a design by Waddington & Sons. In 1994, the Brunswick church gained a Grade II listing building status. This stunning wedding venue is found in the heart of Whitby, just a stones throw from the Seafront. With its spacious interior and original features, which include stain glass windows throughout, high ceilings, seated upper floor and the ornate Church organ. The venue offers use of a lovely lounge room, fully equipped kitchen, toilet facilities and dressing rooms. Offering the flexibility to decorate and choose your perfect suppliers, you can ensure your dream wedding comes to life. With three day site hire and space for up to 120 day guests and 200 evening guests, The Bruswick Centre provides a large space for the ultimate wedding party. A Wonderful SpaceA Wonderful Space
We hired the Brunswick Centre for our DIY wedding in October 2019. As long time fans of Whitby, we knew we wanted to hold our wedding in the town, but after searching high and low we hadn't quite found the right venue. Then one day we remembered visiting the Brunswick Centre for a record fair years earlier, and once we saw pictures online we realised we had found our perfect venue. The trustees were so helpful from when we first contacted them all the way up until the wedding itself. This truly is a DIY venue, so we were able to choose everything we wanted from the bar and catering to the decor. A DIY wedding means organising everything from scratch, but we felt so privileged to be able to hold our celebration in this wonderful space and had the perfect day with every detail just as we wanted it. All of our guests were completely wowed by the space, there are so many factors that make it a special place to hold a celebration - the wonderful stained glass windows, all of the woodwork around the main room, the side rooms/lounge, and handy kitchen for our caterers. We were also very pleasantly surprised to find that the fairy lights on the posts and across the canopy above the main area are included in the hire, so we didn't need to do too much more to make the space look really special. We were able to hire the space over a few days to make sure we had time to set everything up and cleanup afterwards which was a huge help.
