Holding your day in one of the most magical wedding venues in Yorkshire can only add to the occasion.
With the magnificent backdrop of the 13th century Barden Tower, this has to be one of the most historic of Yorkshire civil wedding venues. Steeped in romanticism and charm, this totally unique venue is surrounded by some of the best landscape the Yorkshire Dales can offer. The photo opportunities are endless, with superb backdrops of the ruin of the once magnificent tower, the Priests House itself, the orchard, the woods and the valley stretching into the distance. The scenery and mystique of the place is dramatic whatever the season, especially the winter months with the dark nights actually complementing the authenticity of the medieval surroundings.
The charming medieval Priests House is able to offer small and intimate weddings in the House ranging from just yourselves or up to 30 guests. With open fires, real oak beams it oozes history and provides a fabulously intimate setting for your wedding breakfast.
The Old Chapel beneath the House was renovated on June 2016 and now provides a superb venue for civil ceremonies (up to 90) and dining and evening reception up to 70. With a baby grand piano you can have some gentle background accompaniment for the meal followed by a DJ or other entertainment later in the evening.

Debbie and Steve were very prompt with communication and we booked to view after confirming they would allow our dog to be part of the day. Wow, the chapel is stunning and the light floods in creating a truly special place. We knew nothing would compare and agreed a date. We loved how it was family run, it always felt personal and Debbie knows the venue inside out. It took the stress away and the attention to detail was meticulous. In the lead up to the wedding we went up for Sunday lunch and attended the open day. We knew our guests would be well fed and Debbie would create our vision for the day. They have plenty of decorations which are free to use. The day itself was perfect and everything as expected. Many guests commented how much they loved the venue and how great the food was, including the portion size. They also plan to come back for Sunday lunch! I was nervous when we heard you were not around but honestly it could not have gone better. Mark was fantastic – the food was out of this world and he went out of his way to look after and entertain some of the older guests in the upstairs bar when the band was a little loud. One older couple in particular were ex-military and said they had never met a nicer more interesting person in their lives. He made their day. Very very good staff, attentive friendly never false. You were made to feel like they really care about everyone's experience there. The food was amazing!!! the goats cheese and pudding in particular. The light in the venue was amazing for photos! And maticulos eye for little details which the Bride and Groom a sure me was the venue and not them... well done! We shall be returning for Sunday dinner very shortly even if it's an hour or so away from us!!! We have just attended a wedding here and coming from someone who has worked in the wedding industry for many years I can honestly say this has been a wonderful experience. We had a truly amazing day and would just like to extend our gratitude to Debbie and her team who were all utterly fantastic. They made both ourselves and our guests feel calm, relaxed and very welcome and could not have done enough for us to make sure we were happy on our big day, despite the rain. The venue and it's setting is absolutely stunning and has been restored impeccably, the people are lovely , professional and very accommodating and the food was fabulous! We had so many guest comments on the beautiful setting and how wonderful they thought the food was on the day. Debbie and her team could not have done enough for us. From the decorations for the ceremony to the seamless transition of the chapel for the wedding breakfast. Special mention also to Mark the chef who’s canapés, wedding breakfast and evening cheeseboards was absolutely sublime! They helped make the day as special as it could have been. We had our wedding at the Priests House on 6th October 2018. The whole day was perfect! Debbie and her team could not have done enough for us. What is your venue's most unique feature?
The venue and site is grade 1 listed being part of the curtilage of Barden Tower. It has that genuine historical ambience whilst also having subtle modern improvements.
What part of your business are you most proud of?
The personal touch of being a genuinely family business (all family members contribute!) Also the refurbishment of the Old Chapel. Taken 12 years to get there but well worth it.
