Bracken Tor House

Bracken Tor House is set in 4 acres of landscaped grounds on the edge of Dartmoor above Okehampton. It is a licensed venue for civil ceremonies and we offer a wedding venue with a difference. The main house was built in an Arts and Crafts style in 1908 and it is surrounded by bluebell woods and open moorland, hence a quiet venue on the edge of Dartmoor with great views over the town of Okehampton. There are two areas which are licensed by Devon County Council. Most choose to have the ceremony under the pagoda in our beautiful gardens where there is outdoor seating for 100 guests (a temporary shelter is available for hire, in the event of poor weather). Our new function room will seat up to 150 guests in theatre style or 100 guests around tables. In the gardens there are areas with picnic benches as well as a campfire area (guests must bring their own wood). The Function Room can be hired separately from the House and Lodge. It has it's own terrace looking out over the north Devon countryside with beautiful sunsets. There is a paved area at the entrance which gives a great area for meeting and greeting people. The wedding ceremony fee includes any help you require planning the day, an event organiser before and during your ceremony, setting out the seating area and preparing the pagoda (not included are costs for decoration nor flowers). Our catering services are tailored to your requirements. A selection of different types of menus is available from canapés to full wedding breakfasts. We can also arrange for Hog Roasts, Cream Teas, Curry Buffet party, Baked Potatoes in rusticware with wooden forks. Dessert can be added to all options. Whatever you fancy, we're here to help! We will provide a commercial bar for your guests and we can recommend wines, local beers and local ciders for your reception. Licensed for bar and entertainment. As a Youth Hostel and Activity centre, you can add-on these elements for a fun-filled family weekend.
