Description

Our History, your future... Macdonald Linden Hall Golf & Country Club rests within 450 acres of park and woodland in the heart of Northumberland. Just 24 miles from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Linden Hall is a natural oasis of calm away from the bustling city. You will be captivated before reaching the end of the quarter mile, tree-lined driveway where this Georgian Grade II mansion house awaits you. The manicured lawns provide the perfect setting for an outdoors ceremony or a garden drinks reception. Bursts of colour from seasonal blooms provide the perfect backdrop all year round. The interiors radiate charm and sophistication with luxurious furnishings, period features and roaring logs fires in the winter. With grand stone masonry, a sweeping staircase and dome skylight, your photographer will be spoilt for choice. Complete with an 18-hole golf course, spa and several on-site dining options, Linden Hall offers a fully immersive retreat for your wedding stay. Function suites... We have several function suites for you to choose from and our coordinators will guide you, led by your vision for the perfect day. Intimate ceremonies can take place in the manor’s conservatory with a panoramic view of the manicured grounds. Ceremonies for up to 120 guests are best arranged in the striking Adamson Suite where wooden beams are adorned with romantic fairy lights. Smaller parties may use the highly recommended Drawing Room where dual aspect windows overlook the pretty manicured garden and a glittering chandelier sits proudly overhead. A grand piano in this room is available for you to use and the marble fireplace is ideal for inside group photographs. The largest room, accommodating up to 200 people is the Bigge Suite, typically used for Wedding Breakfasts and Evening Receptions. This former coach house is popular for its grand appearance and complete with double doors that open the room up to greenery and fresh air.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?

It's hard to choose when you're surrounded by happiness, however organising the surprise guest appearance of relatives from Australia was a particular favourite of mine. No one saw it coming except the Aussies and the staff. Cue the speeches and ... SURPRISE!!

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

One of my Brides once said, "don't sweat the small stuff" and I think that pretty much sums it up. Chances are, that thing you've been losing sleep over, we already have in hand.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

Subtle personal touches are my favorite, perhaps something that just the couple know about. Such as the Bride who had her married name embroidered onto the lace sleeve of her gown.

Describe your venue in 5 adjectives.

Picturesque, elegant, serene, historic, comfortable.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?

There are so many beauty spots on the grounds that I recommend taking a golf buggy and exploring with your photographer.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?

What’s your favourite canapé?

Canapes are a must! Tempura king prawns are always popular but I love the Vegan beetroot macaron with horseradish cream cheese. Think seasonal and if it's not on the menu, just ask!

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

What is your venue's most unique feature?

The Inner Hall is the gem inside the Grade II Listed Georgian manor house; Sir John Dobson was a junior architect on the project. It has a magnificent wraparound staircase and a stunning glass dome sky light overhead. You'll see this as you step outside your bedroom suite.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

Our adaptability. Wedding packages are there to make your life easy but anything can be changed. Have a favourite dish? No problem. Want to serve a cocktail reception? No problem? You dream it and we do it!
