Believed to be the inspiration for Barton Park in Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility, we think you will agree that Pynes House is a wonderful place to host your perfect day. Built in the beautiful Exe Valley in about 1700, just three miles from the centre of Exeter, Pynes House makes the ideal year-round private retreat for intimate groups or larger wedding ceremonies and receptions. During the summer, make the most of our manicured lawns, ornamental terraces and pretty woodland, and in the winter enjoy the cosy romance of our beautiful interiors, stunning views and open log fires. Alongside luxurious accommodation for up to 24, there are a number of magnificent state rooms, with capacity to comfortably seat up to 95 for a sit-down meal. For larger weddings in Exeter, or if you’d like your wedding reception to be outside, a marquee can be positioned on the lawns. With the house as a magnificent backdrop and surrounded by breathtaking countryside, the grounds of this charming wedding venue in Exeter are the perfect setting for a marquee and outdoor celebration. Beautiful venue, but be careful of the added extras! We got married on the 30th June 2018 and had the most wonderful time, however we found that you do need to budget quite a lot more than the initial price quoted as the venue do charge extra for quite a few things, I.e. music being on until 12pm, beds being made, bottle collection, £600 for an extra 3 hours on the Sunday etc. Just read the T&Cs carefully as we were caught out a week before the wedding being told we would be charged £500 extra for the music to be on until 12pm. They reduced it to £250 eventually but it left a sour taste in the mouth 7 days before the wedding. Well, where on earth do we begin?...Or, really, how on earth are we going to sum up our dream day in just a few short sentences!!! From the moment our car touched the gravel (on what has to be the most magnificent drive!!) we were smitten. Pynes house is an exceptional piece of architecture, both inside and out. So much so, we struggled to choose which room we would get married in!! The world really is your oyster. The icing on the cake (no pun intended) was Kate. From day one Kate was a superstar - efficient, caring, and informative. She made us feel at ease with what can be quite a stressful journey. Thank you Kate and team for helping us achieve our dream day, we will be forever grateful. As soon as we drove down the drive, we knew this was the venue for us. But when we got inside, it just got better and better. The house itself is utterly beautiful and has been restored to an impeccable standard - but it's been done so in a contemporary, fresh style in perfect harmony with the period features. Coupled with this, Kate and Heather were incredible helping us with everything we needed. They were so flexible, we could really put our own stamp on things so it felt unique to us. I've even had friends say people at their offices were asking about the wedding when they got back. The day blew us away. It was everything we dreamt of. Pynes House really made our day! It was like a fairytaleIt was like a fairytale
What an excellent wedding venue! We couldn't recommend it highly enough. They were so helpful with everything from planning to making sure everything ran perfectly on the day. Pynes house provided a wedding coordinator who was fantastic! You could tell she knew exactly what she was doing and everything was managed perfectly. Even down to having our little dog run down the aisle before the bride arrived! Many of the guests commented on how spectacular the venue is, and we couldn't agree more. It was like a fairy tale to be able to stay and get married in such a magnificent place, and to have all of our friends and family around us too. The accomodation is beautiful, from the bedrooms to the guest kitchen, Pynes felt like it was ours for the weekend and it was wonderful to have so many of the wedding party staying in the same place as us for the weekend of the wedding. We fell in love with it We fell in love with it
Pynes House was just perfect for our wedding. We fell in love with it the first time we went to visit it. Heather was amazing from the first time I called and I really felt relaxed about the whole process right from the start. The house and courtyards are absolutely stunning for guests and photos and it was such a treat to be able to stay in such a wonderful place. Heather and Geoff were available for whenever we needed which was great but also allowed us to treat it as our home for the weekend. I can't believe how quickly it went by and the rain didn't dampen anyone spirits. The rain did mean a few things had to change last minute and Heather and Geoff were really great at accommodating us and making sure everything was ok on the day. Rachael and Matthews wedding at Pynes House in December was just perfect. Pynes House is stunning both inside and out. The house has been restored so lovingly, maintaining the period features but giving it a modern style. The bedrooms - all of them are comfortable and beautifully furnished. Heather, Kate, Rosie and the rest of the Team at Pynes House were on-hand to make sure things ran smoothly. WOW!! Pynes house is the most beautiful wedding venue in Devon hands down. It was truly amazing and a very wonderful set up for a wedding. Having searched far and wide in Devon to find the ideal wedding venue for our day, and seeing Pynes first we never should of looked any further. Stop your search!! It blows you away. The drive up to the house, the entrance and the welcome and then the rooms inside are all equally stunning. The rose garden is charming and perfect for canapés and drinks. The location makes you feel like you are miles away in the countryside and yet you are still so close to the city of Exeter and the transport links and local hotels. Ideal. The whole team and the families who run Pynes, are the most helpful and friendly people you will meet in the wedding venue industry. Several places we looked at after all came across as difficult and well below par with the service they offered and didn’t make us feel special as a newly engaged couple. Nothing compared to Pynes house they were brilliant. Heather and Kate made us feel like ours was the only wedding that year. Always able to answer questions and help with all the planning. With the exclusive use of the house and not back to back weddings of some venues you really do feel like you have the best of the best. And not to mention Jo their on site wedding planner!! She is fantastic!! Cannot fault her dedication and attention to detail for us she helped make the day run smooth and guided us as a couple. She sat down with us to go through everything the day before and then on the day was behind the scenes and making everything perfect and happen. Couldn’t of done it without her. Pynes House is the most perfect wedding venue! We had our wedding at the beautiful Pynes House in June 2017. We were extremely fortunate to have the most gorgeous English midsummer's day, bright sunshine and barely a cloud in the sky. This meant all our guests could enjoy the lovely gardens and croquet lawn, and our band ended up playing outside! Such a fabulous day we will never forget, and Pynes will always hold such a special place in our hearts. From the moment we drove up the tree lined driveway and caught sight of Pynes we couldn't contain our excitement. Walking through the striking front doors into the most beautiful interior, we knew instantly we had found the place for our special day. Pynes House has the most perfect blend of grandeur and elegance, but a really intimate and homely feel. It absolutely encapsulated the modern, elegant but relaxed vision we had in mind for our day. We were in touch with Kate throughout the planning, who was incredibly warm and welcoming in her emails and when showing us round. Kate was always happy to answer any queries we had and was very helpful in recommending other suppliers who were familiar with the venue. It was great having the flexibility of a choice of caterers, and the freedom to choose all of your own suppliers to make our day as uniquely 'us' as possible. When we arrived for our wedding weekend, I was so excited to see all the roses in bloom in the garden - we had never visited in the summer and it was so beautiful! We met with Jo, Pynes in-house wedding coordinator the day before; I am so glad we were able to get everything organized and set up on the Friday. We talked through everything with Jo, and whilst I felt quite overwhelmed with everything, Jo managed to put me completely at ease, she was wonderful. On the day, Jo was simply amazing - she went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and ensured everything was in place to make the day run smoothly. We cannot thank her enough! A truly magical place, full of love and happinessA truly magical place, full of love and happiness
Pynes House is just incredible. We got married here on 29th June 2019 and everything was perfect. Heather and the family were so welcoming and really made us feel at home for the weekend. They were so flexible and always came back to us promptly even though they are so busy. All our guests were SO impressed at how stunning it is, as were we! It was further away then we had originally wanted our wedding but once we saw it there was nowhere else we needed to see. The rooms are all immaculate and everywhere is so bright and airy. A truly magical place, full of love and happiness. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts for helping us make our day perfect!Pynes House is just incredible. Absolutely stunning venue. You need to go check it out!! I felt like our wedding was a fairytale wedding - right out of a Jane Austen book. :) The venue has charm and character yet has a romantic feel about it. We had our wedding two weekends ago and I want to go back!! The decor in the rooms are well thought out (I loved the linen so much I emailed the owner for the brand) and all our guests felt like they were on holiday. This was the first time our family and friends from both sides were going to meet and Pynes was the perfect venue for it. For a recent Christmas wedding, a Christmas tree was set up for each guest to add a decoration as a gift for the couple. It was so beautiful to think that every Christmas they would put these decorations on their tree as a reminder of their wedding and their family and friends.

The driveway and entrance have the "wow" factor, but there are so many beautiful and historical details in the house which have been sensitively enhanced with timeless and stylish decoration.
