Matfen is an unbelievable venue with so much character and the staff ensure your wedding goes without a hitch. Walking down the staircase and then down the aisle is a moment I’ll treasure forever. I love revisiting Matfen as it will always be our special place and hold a place in my heart forever. As soon as I walked into the great hall for the first time I knew I would be married there. Being recently renovated I believe it has added a higher level of class to the venue also. As for the staff, they could not have been any more attentive and personal with us during our entire day! We really cannot express how fantastic the whole experience was. From the organisation before hand, to the care and attention of the wedding co-coordinators and then the execution on the day, Matfen Hall really exceeded all our expectations. The food, service and staff on the day were brilliant and I cannot recommend Matfen Hall enough. My husband and I got married at Matfen Hall in December 2017. Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
This is a hard one! There are so many gorgeous spots on our estate - we have a beautiful old bridge a short stroll on to the Golf Course, it perfectly aligns the building as the backdrop (& at the right time of day, a beautiful golden sunset), there is a little stream that flows underneath the bridge too - it is a super romantic spot to escape to.
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
That would be telling!
What’s your favourite canapé?
It would have to be our Mini Matfen Sliders, a firm favourite with our couples!
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Enjoying a sing-a-long with everyone in our infamous party room, the Vault Bar.
What is your venue's most unique feature?
Our Great Hall - there is nothing quite like it. The magnificent oak staircase, the open fire, antique mirrors and stunning rose window are a magical combination.
What part of your business are you most proud of?
Our wonderful team, we have team members that have been with us since we first opened the hotel 21 years ago, we are a big family and we love that our couples make Matfen their home from home for the most important day of their lives.
