Vallum is unlike any other wedding venue in Northumberland, offering the relaxed, romantic feel of a country wedding with the convenience and cost-effectiveness of a permanent, well-established venue in breathtaking Hadrian’s Wall country just eight miles west of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. One of the many things which sets us apart from other venues is our flexibility. You might want to go all-out uber glam, rustic country, or kitchen garden cute or you may opt for a stunning fine dining feast, a beautifully bespoke buffet, or enjoy a laid-back barbecue. Because we have our own team of chefs we enjoy tailoring the menus to suit your style. Smaller weddings are beautifully suited to our lovely Tipi, while bigger events from 40-160 are hosted in our large Marquee – a permanent ivory lined billowing space with glass windows all down one side to make the most of our deck, lawn and beautiful country views, we even have a lake for that romantic water photograph. All our celebrations are catered for by us in our state of the art kitchens. Our passion is food. Whatever you have in mind for your wedding day, we can work with you to perfect your menu and show off our skills. Some couples have gone for bangers and mash, others have chosen Persian banquets. Over the years we have won many Taste Awards for our home baking so if Afternoon Tea is your vision, you are in the best hands! Couples who choose Vallum are looking for a less formal vibe with great service. Couples love our hands on approach and how we welcome you into our family when you make us your wedding home. We are great at organising and every step of the way is clearly documented so that on the day our team all know exactly what is going on at any minute of the day, so you don't even need to think about it. Weddings here are incredibly special and absolutely personal to you. We look forward to planning it with you!

A Northumberland Gem A Northumberland Gem
When we booked Vallum Farm, we were pulled in hook, line and sinker by the STUNNING views. We visited the restaurant a few times before the wedding for Sunday lunch, but sadly the restaurant closed just before the wedding. The marquee and teepee was exactly what we were looking for, as we wanted a quirky wedding with amazing food - and Vallum fully met our needs! Our guests were able to stay in their amazing glamping tents, only a stones throw away from the venue. On the evening of our wedding, everyone could sit round the fire or in the teepee filled with twinkling lights, it was just magical. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is sadly the communication was very disappointing throughout the wedding planning process. There were quite a few errors with invoices, promises that weren’t kept, and even not enough seats for guests during our ceremony on the day, which had to quickly be rectified by my guests before I arrived. This aside, I would love to do the day all over again. The food was wonderful, the drinks were flowing and the company was second to none (not to mention it was 27 degrees all day!). It’s beautiful countryside surroundings and super friendly team made it the venue for us. From our first visit up until the big day, all of the staff helped us so much! Vicky and Alice particularly were always willing to answer any question we had and do their best to make it a very special day, which it was! They worked with us, our families and our other suppliers on all our ideas for the day. It was a more affordable option than similar venues but still delivered all we could hope for. Great value for money with all the extras thrown in (decorations, the outside tipi, fire pits etc.) And the priceless personal touch given by the team who genuinely cared! Me and James got married on the 30th May 2019 at Vallum Farm. After 1 year of being engaged and planning the wedding with Vicky and Alice we can say our experience was very enjoyable! We had a blast talking about decorations, food and planning the whole day with them. The day went smoothly, and Alice ensured everything was perfect for us! We were allowed to decorate the room the night before which was extremely helpful! We had none stop food and drink from Vallum Farm which made us feel like king and queens on the day. Vicky and Alice are so friendly, and you feel you can tell them anything, good and bad which is a real positive when it comes to wedding planning. Vicky helped us step by step plan the wedding as me and my husband James had no idea what a wedding entailed at times! They truly looked after us and made our day very special. Vallum Farm will be a place which will forever remain in our hearts and Vicky and Alice will also have a space in our hearts forever. Vallum farm is a magical place, its beautiful and filled with gorgeous greens and animals. It’s one of those places that we would call heaven on earth… I suppose getting married on Ascension Day, it’s quite fitting.Me and James got married on the 30th May 2019 at Vallum Farm. Our guests loved the relaxed atmosphere and are still talking about the delicious food which again, was tailored perfectly to our requirements. There was a particular moment I recall while dancing with our 2 Labradors when I suddenly realised how amazing it was that we were able to share such an important day with not only our family and friends but our beloved pets too and the beautiful surroundings made for some perfect photographs. The new hot smoked salmon tortilla we are making in the kitchen are just mouth-wateringly delicious, but then so is the flat iron steak canape with charred aubergine ..

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

Pulled pork bun with slaw and pickles

What is your venue's most unique feature?

Our marquee is built within a barn and it has been interior designed to feel quirky and cool. The glass frontage which looks out over our marquee lawn and kitchen garden is just stunning as its 24m long!

What part of your business are you most proud of?

The staff. They are just amazing. What a team.
